Medical Consultation

Corroborated by contemporary research as well as centuries of practice, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of integrative medicine that evaluates patients' situations in a holistic manner and that accordingly emphasizes highly individualized treatment plans.

Because of this unique approach, two people coming in for what appears to be the same problem — for example, chronic migraines — may have very different treatment processes because of how their bodies, lifestyles, comorbidities, personal preferences, past medical histories, everyday environment, allergies/intolerances, and underlying causes of dysfunction differ from one another.

Consultation is crucial in any medical process, but it's especially important in the realm of Traditional Chinese Medicine because practitioners should have a big-picture idea of "you" that includes but also goes beyond your basic medical history and the health issues you're concerned about.

Asides from being the time to compile basic intake information, consultations are also when diagnostic evaluations relevant to your situation — such as reading your pulse or checking your tongue — are performed. After these initial processes, we'll be able to have a detailed two-way conversation about the projected treatment plan, which will include discussion on lifestyle and diet as well as TCM-specific therapies. Of course, this plan can always be reviewed and adjusted as treatment goes on.
